What’s the Effect of Hiding Instagram’s Like Count on Influencers? – If you’re using or have friends using Instagram, you’ve probably noticed: Instagram has hidden the number of likes on posts from users in some countries. While this test received reactions from many different circles, Instagram announced last month that it will expand this experiment.
Instagram announced that with this move, the application aims to be a free and comfortable environment for people to express themselves. Users could still click on the likes of their own posts and who liked them by clicking, but they could not see other people’s posts.
Whether you’re an Instagram Influencer or a regular user, the number of likes on posts is important to everyone. But when it comes to Influencers, this trial is a little more important. For this reason, we have researched the effects of hidden likes on Influencers and compiled them below. The effects of Instagram Hiding Likes, have a good read in advance!
The Effect of Hidden Likes on Influencers
Influencer marketing platform for research HypeAuditor reviewed more than 154k Influencer accounts. Users in countries where the likes are hidden such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Italy and Australia were selected for testing. Also, England, where this trial was not applied, was chosen for comparison.
The results were analyzed in four different categories:
1K – 5K followers.
Research showed a slight decrease in follower count for this episode known as Nanoninfluencer, but this was not true for all countries.
5K – 20K followers
The decline was sharper and clearer in more mid-level Influencers.
20K – 100K followers
Influencers with over 20,000 followers were again in decline. At the same time, Brazilian influencers were the most affected by secret appreciation.
100K – 1M
Interestingly, there was a movement against the trend in Japan.
According to these results, unfortunately, it does not seem possible to say anything definite. However, it is an undeniable fact that hiding the number of likes will change the number of followers in the long run.
So what does this mean for us? It seems like a good application to break the effect of the unreal lives that influencers show to people, but it is too early to say anything about success. Because Instagram has not yet fully shared the data on removing the total number of likes, and the trials are still ongoing around the world.
In short, if you’re an Influencer, you may see a decrease in your Instagram engagement, but that doesn’t necessarily mean your engagement or follower count has decreased. In these statistics, it examines overall Influencer performance, which means that if the drop in likes applies to all users, Influencers are still performing the same. For this reason, we may have to wait a little longer for the real effects to emerge.
For now, we don’t know exactly how hiding the number of likes will have on Influencers, but in the long run it will be a good idea. We are sure it will change things. Let’s see what kind of Instagram will we be using in the near future?
